About This Project

Two separate additions to the original facility were built to visually tie- into the concrete and brick facades. Precast concrete panels in the first addition were custom colored, with integrated color.  Second addition used standard concrete panels as the integrated color panels were not visually acceptable in color consistency.

Challenges First addition concrete panels varied dramatically in color and did not match existing structure. The various hued panels needed to be finished with a more uniform color, without a "painted" appearance. After the successful application of Concretal Lasur to the first addition, the second addition was specified to receive Concretal Lasur from the onset.
Additionally, interior latex paint in existing facility was softening and peeling when exposed to skin lotion and hair products from prolonged contact. Keim Innotop was chosen as a non-peeling alternative. Ecosil ME Self Sanitizing Interior Finish was specified for new infirmary interior walls.
Solutions Mineral silicate Concretal Lasur was chosen to add a "veil" of unifying color, without changing the texture and aesthetics of the original concrete panels. With a second addition soon following, it was necessary to blend the two additions and the original structure for a more unified appearance. A dilution ratio of 1:1 was chosen to provide a mostly opaque final appearance.
