About This Project

Challenges Weathering and spalling left the concrete surface marked with rust streaks from exposed rebar and dirt and pollution. Areas of the concrete required significant repair to recoat exposed rebar and rebuild concrete surfaces. Patches were also installed over significant pits, voids and cracks, leaving the concrete surface appearance a "patchwork" of shades of gray. The decision was made not to "paint" the surface in order to maintain the look and feel of the raw concrete, but a more uniform, harmonious overall color was desired.
Solutions Keim Concretal Lasur Mineral Silicate Stain was selected for it's semi-transparent qualities and for its long term durability and ability to penetrate and not peel from the concrete surface. It also provides a "natural" concrete appearance with a beautiful mineral matte finish and no harsh glare no matter the time of day. This thin-bodied finish does not alter the surface profile of the concrete, but delivers a more uniform overall color-toned appearance.
