About This Project

Office structure was built in 60s as a high rise concrete office building and was a natural concrete color, uncoated.  Astrazeneca acquired the building to serve as their headquarters for the Wilmington campus of lower rise brick structures.  The principal impetus of the project was to match the brick color shade of the many surrounding structures that were part of the pharmaceutical campus.  We specified Concretal - and performed color samples to match.
Challenges The Owners made a color decision based on an array of brick shades we provided.  Color banners in these shades were attached to the building, and then photographed by helicopter. An approved color was selected - and KEIM's light fast characteristic, high vapor permeability and chemical bonding were important for this project.
Solutions We opted to recommend a three-coat application of Concretal W:  Concretal Grob Texture Base Coat and two finish coats of Concretal W High Performance Sol-silicate Finish for Concrete for maximum long term performance and to improve the final texture and appearance of the weathered concrete.
